Valentine’s Day Dos and Don’ts
It’s that time of year again! It’s hard to tell sometimes who dreads Valentine’s Day more – the single folk who feel left out and alone on the big day, or people with partners who desperately try to work out exactly what is expected from them!
The thing is, Valentine’s Day is only fun if you don’t take it too seriously, so we’ve put together these simple things to do and not do around the middle of February.
DO make the people you love know about it
Whether you’re in a romantic relationship or not, there are plenty of people around us that we simply couldn’t do without, but how often do we actually tell them? A short card to your mum or a quick text to a best friend won’t take you that long, but it’ll probably mean a huge amount to them.
DON’T fall for the hype
You don’t have to take out a mortgage to celebrate Valentine’s Day! There will be plenty of companies out there trying to separate you from your money so why not try more of a homemade approach? There’s nothing wrong with creating a card at home rather than spending almost a fiver for one.
DO take some time to look after yourself
You’re only as good as you feel so if you’ve been suffering from the wintery blues why not take some time out to give yourself a bit of TLC? Get a bubble bath and a few candles, or buy that book you’ve been desperate to read for ages, or try out something new. Something just for yourself.
DON’T propose if you’re not ready!
We all know that couple who got engaged on Valentine’s Day – but that doesn’t mean that you have to propose too! Everyone’s relationship is a different journey, so don’t feel under pressure to pop the question unless you would anyway.
